Website!

I am so excited about my website. I am eager to continue working on it and adding the learning and teaching resources that I acquire as I continue on through the Ed program. I can not wait for the time that this website becomes a tool in my profession and not just my education.

Mrs. Prescotts class!

This week I began to create my own website. I designed my first page with little effort, however I felt that I spent too much time trying to make it perfect, and consequently fell behind on completing the assignment. I hope I hav the time to make it all I have dreampt it to be, because it has potential to be an amazing site for my future teaching career!!! I hope I can pull it together next class and add many sites that can aid my students and my lesson planning as well!!!

Got my sites on the web!

I had never truly given thought to the quality of one website in comparison to another. This week I learning that the making of websites, like any other form of creating or designing can be judged base on a certain group of criterion. Now, when observing a site, I am noting not only its design but how easy or difficult to navigate within its links, how easy it is to assess its information, or if it is has unpleasing, distracting illustrations or background colors.

I am excited to create my own website through Dream Weaver. I am intimidated by the complexity however, I feel confident that with guidance I can use this tool late in my career as well!

Lesson Planning

I have never made a lesson with the use of technology before. Making lesson plans in general is new to me, and I am still intimidated by the process. I am excited to include all the new resources we have been learning about into a lesson. I love that you can teach your content WHILE demonstrating and allowing the use of these resources to students. I hope that my lesson reflects how much I have learned!

Checking checking 1,2,3

1. Who knew that iTunes was not only cool for music, but extremely helpful for becoming a genius! I feel like now that I know the way to find free Ivy League school lectures for free, I can honestly do anything. I agree with the class discussion that we had, pointing out that it can be too addicting and anti social.
2. I LOVE making my own podcast!!!!So fun and I cant wait to finish!

You dirty rotten good fer nothin faker!

In class, I was exposed to technologies that can be used in the classroom to not only aid in assessment of my students, but also as a great way to check learning in a super fun way. I adored the lesson we did with the options of using the program where you each use either a computer or your iphone to select answers or the other option of finding and using clickers. This opens my eyes to how to check my students understanding in a way that they don't feel too intimidated and we can do it all at once. SO COOL because as teacher it is hard to formally assess individuals other than with tests and worksheets.

Also, I loved examining websites and deciphering if they are trust worthy or not. I have often wondered how to determine, out of several sources, which is the one that can be used as a tool to research content, and which is not reliable. I learned from class that you can find out allot by checking out the copyright, the citations and by googling the authors of the website or information. I know that you cannot judge a website by its logos or appearance, just as pictures given by the media.

Google Earth

I have known about Google earth for quite some time now. If you had asked me on a scale of one to ten how familiar I was with the program, I would have claimed to be an eight. After class this week, I was happily surprised to find that I had missed out on all that Google Earth has to offer. For my tour, I mapped out all the good wedding places my newly engaged friend should consider. It was easy and fun. I could definitely use this in the classroom.
